11、alysisallowancesonindividualsamplesinplaceofthefixedrangeslimitswithouttolerancesfmerlyprovidedfcarbonotherelementsinSAEsteels.Fyearsthevarietyofchemicalcompositionsofsteelhasbeenamatterofconcerninthesteelindustry.Itwasr
12、ecognizedthatproductionoffewergradesofsteelcouldresultinimproveddeliveriesprovideabetteropptunitytoachieveadvancesintechnologymanufacturingpracticesqualitythusdevelopmefullythepossibilitiesofapplicationinherentinthosegra
13、des.Comprehensiveimpartialstudiesweredirectedtowarddeterminingwhichofthemanygradesbeingspecifiedweretheonesinmostcommondemthefeasibilityofcombiningcompositionshavinglikerequirements.Fromthesestudiesthemostcommongradesofs
14、teelhavebeenedkeptinthecurrentrevision.ThecastheatchemicalcompositionlimitsrangesofthesegradesaregiveninTables123A3B.ThesecastheatlimitsrangesaresubjecttostardvariationsfproductanalysisasgiveninSAEJ409.SinceAISIisnolonge
15、rissuingsteelgradedesignationsgradeslistedinthisdocumentareSAEgrades.Itisrecognizedthatchemicalcompositionsotherthanthoselistedinthepreviouslymentionedtableswillattimesbeneededfspecializedapplicationsprocessing.Whensucha
