7、(618907A.D.)thatpeopleenjoyedwshipedthefullmoon.IntheSouthernSongDynasty(11271279A.D.)howeverpeoplesentroundmooncakestotheirrelativesasgiftsinexpressionoftheirbestwishesoffamilyreunion.Atnighttheylookedupatthefullsilverm
8、oonwentsightseeingtocelebratethefestival.SincetheMing(13681644A.D.)QingDynasties(16441911A.D.)thecustomofAutumnFestivalcelebrationbecameunprecedentedpopular.Togetherwiththecelebrationthereappearedsomespecialcustomsindiff
9、erentpartsofthecountrysuchasburningincenseplantingAutumntreeslightingLanternsontowersfiredragondances.WhatiswthmentioningisthattheYuetanParkinthewesterndistrictofBeijingwasiginallytheTempleofMooneveryyeartheemperwouldgot
10、heretoofferasacrificetothemoon.dayofthelunarfifthmonth.ThepropernamefthisfestivalwastheUprightSunFestivalbutfeignersinChinarefertoitastheDragonBoatFestival.TheFifthMoonFestivalisalsonotedfitsdragonboatracesespeciallyinth

13、fromhisoffice.RealizingthatthecountrywasnowinthehsofevilcruptofficialsQuYuanclaspedalargestoneleapedintotheMiLoriveronthefifthdayofthefifthmoon.Nearbyfishermenrushedovertriedtosavehimbuttheywereunableeventorecoverhisbody
14、.ThereafterthekingdomdeclinedwaseventuallyconqueredbythekingdomofQinThepeopleofChumourningthedeathofQuYuanthrewriceintotherivertofeedhishungryghosteveryyearonthefifthdayofthefifthmoon.Oneyearaccdingtothelegendthespiritof
15、QuYuanappearedtoldthemournersthatahugereptileintheriverhadstolenthericethathadbeenoffered.Thespiritadvisedthemtowrapthericeinsilkbinditwithfivedifferentcoledthreadsbefetossingitintotheriver.OntheFifthMoonFestivalaglutino
16、usricepuddingcalledZongziwaseatentosymbolizethericeofferingstoQuYuan.Ingredientssuchasbeanslotusseedschestnutspkfatthegoldenyolkofasaltedduckeggwereoftenaddedtotheglutinousrice.Thepuddingwaswrappedwithbambooleavesboundwi
17、thastofraffiaboiledinsaltwaterfhours.ThedragonboatracesrepresentedtheattemptstorescuerecoverthebodyofQuYuan.Adragonboatrangedfromfiftytoonehundredfeetinlengthwithabeamofaboutfiveahalffeetaccommodatingtwopaddlerssittingsi
