8、etchedoutabovetoincludeinteractionsbetweenthemainexplanatyvariables.FinstancebyinteractingFDIwiththerelativeproductivitylevelwecanexaminetowhatextentgainsfromfeigncapitalinflowsdependontheabsptivecapacitymeasuredasthedis

9、tancetothetechnologicalfrontier.Inparticularwecouldtestthehypothesisofe.g.GlassSaggi(1998)5accdingtowhichalargerdevelopmentgapimpliesalowerqualityoftechnologytransferredviaFDImelimitedcapabilitiesofdomesticfirmstobenefit

10、frompotentialspilloversoffeignpresence(implyinganegativecoefficientoftheinteractionterm).OntheotherhapositiveestimatewouldbeconsistentwithanalternativehypothesisprovidedbyFindlay(1978)whoemphasisesthelargerpoolofavailabl
